New Flats for St. Anne's

 

Now that we have some economic recovery in progress, it seems there's some activity stirring in the property market. In short, more flats - this time in Langton Court Road on the former Co-Op to the rear of the Chip Shop on Newbridge Road. Not that there's a problem with the flats, but how many cars will the residents have and can the already crowded side roads cope with more multi-occupancy development?

Pavement Parking - Got £70 spare?

One of our favourite Blogs on traffic, Bristol Traffic have an interesting article about pavement parking.

Looking round the parish, the old problem of parking on the pavement may soon be yet another source of income for the council. Looking at the article in the Sun Newspaper, people parking with two wheels on the pavement will end up with a £70 fine?

If this driver parked outside the Cafe in Wick Road thinks Sunday lunchtimes are safe, think again.
The traffic wardens are out and about in the Brislington area at all sorts of funny times nowadays!

What to do with your Transit when it won't fit

Transit vans are really difficult to park; there are no rear windows and they're a lot longer than the average car. When it comes to parking, the back yard is sometimes not wide enough for a van. The sensible option is to get a wider property or a smaller van. This driver is one of the lucky ones, as they have an extra strip of tarmac at the side of the house - It's called a Pavement!

Cats Eyes DO work!

 

It's a good job the Cat's Eyes work here in Langton Court Road, as we may have missed the car parked the other side of Westwood Crescent!

More flats for Wick Road

 

Here's a building in Wick Road that was demolished a couple of years ago ready for the construction of another block of flats and a new St. John Ambulance hall. Not a problem, but it remains to be seen whether the planned number of parking spaces on site will cope with the actual number of cars the new residents will  have?

Brislington Village 2011

 

On a cold Saturday in January the traffic is unusually light. The new road layout looks pretty good. but the same problems remain heading out towards Bath. There's a 24 hour bus lane for a bus service that does not run 24 hours!

 

The old bottleneck between the Kings Arms and the former Hollybush inn (now flats) is still there too.

Brislington Hill on a Summer Day

This was taken on a warm June mid-afternoon in 2009. There are slight changes to the road layout nowadays, but the same problems remain: too many cars being forced through the "Brislington Bottleneck".

Looking towards Brislington from the end of Salisbury Road, it's a fairly quiet stretch of road, apart from weekday mornings when people are parked to visit the nearby Health Centre.

Hampstead Road

For many years, Hampstead was a rat run between the A37 Wells Road and the A4 Bath Road before the Callington Road link was opened. It was only after Kings Road was blocked off that the road finally became the quiet scene pictured here.

Unfortunately, cars have taken over the road in a different way nowadays; parking, not just for the residents, but the visitors to the many guest houses on the nearby A4 Bath Road as well.
